Hello & Welcome to The Long Day of the Modern.
This website is a place for me to store all of my previous work as a screenwriter, playwright, lyricist, librettist, theorist, musician and journalist. I will also be uploading new work from time to time. For many years, I hosted my work on various websites for free, and I believe that artists deserve to be compensated for their work. So, if anyone is going to get that .003 cents of ad revenue, it’s going to be me.
I mostly write dramatic work about intersectional sci-fi, clever slackers and where genre convention meets genuine conversation. I write essays on film, television, theater, online culture, philosophy, music and a whole host of other topics, as both a reporter and a critic. My film reviews are hosted on Letterboxd.com, (as they provide a valuable service of cataloging the movies I’ve seen in an easily manageable fashion) but may be expanded upon on this site.
Some favorite writers of mine include Charlie Kaufman, Frank B. Wilderson III, Joan Didion, Langston Hughes, Nicholas Meyer, Gil Scott-Heron, Dan Olson, Jack Kerouac, Young Jean-Lee, Stephen Sondheim, Slavoj Zizek, Alexander Weheliye, Lin Manuel-Miranda, my mentor Quiara Hudes and Anne Froelick.
So look around, read some words and feel free to drop me a line if you want to talk/pay me to put words on a page. Stay tuned for any announcements from me here and on Twitter. I’m always working on new projects, and I’ll be charting my progress here.
